Request to change image
[edit]In the section "Last publications and Maynard relationship" there is an image of the actual TIME magazine cover with a portrait of J. D. Salinger. Why is the exact same painting (minus the TIME framing) beside the Death section? Could that redundant image--as beautiful as it is and no disrespect meant for the artist who created the portrait--be replaced with a photo of him from modern time? All the images seem to be from 1950 to the 1960's. I know he was described as a recluse, but there should be at least one photo from 1970 - 2010. Thanks for your consideration. Salinger legends at Ursinus College
[edit]Hello, Wikipedians, Just of interest, not for inclusion in the article: I'm an alumnus of Ursinus (class of 1986). I was amused to hear the Salinger legends that were told there. One story was that he failed English, and that's why he dropped out. Another was that the campus inspired the description of Pency Prep in "The Catcher in the Rye" (possible, but not too likely) right down to a description of a tree growing in the end zone of the football field-there was one, at Ursinus, but there's no such mention in the book. Fun stories for the students, whiling away the time at a small (1100+ students, on average) liberal arts college 25 miles northwest of Philadelphia, in what was, at the time, still all farmland. Media portrayals section has an orange banner for more citations since 2019. Publications sections mostly unsourced, and I believe the Death and Post-humorous publications sections can be expanded with sources published after his death. Z1720 (talk) 02:13, 23 December 2023 (UTC)
- Should that media portrayals section even be included? That sort of stuff is almost never WP:DUEWEIGHT and often turns out to be low-quality accretions that should just be purged. Hog Farm Talk 18:47, 24 December 2023 (UTC)
